The Telangana life sciences vision is central to the state government’s long-term economic roadmap, with a clear focus on innovation, global partnerships, and employment generation. Speaking at the valedictory session of BioAsia 2026, Minister 1 outlined how the sector will help Telangana reach a $3 trillion economy by 2047.

Telangana Rising 2047: A Citizen-Driven Economic Roadmap

The Minister said the Telangana Rising 2047 initiative was developed through consultations with citizens, industry leaders, and domain experts. The goal is to raise Telangana’s contribution to the national GDP to 10 per cent over the next two decades.

According to Sridhar Babu, the Telangana life sciences vision aligns with this broader strategy by focusing on high-value research, manufacturing, and exports. The sector is expected to act as a strong multiplier for economic growth across allied industries.

Policy Push Under the Telangana Life Sciences Vision

To strengthen the ecosystem, the government has rolled out several targeted initiatives under the Telangana life sciences vision. These include the Telangana Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy for 2026–2030.

The policy aims to support research, product development, and manufacturing while attracting global companies to set up operations in the state. Sridhar Babu also highlighted the creation of the Telangana Life Sciences School to build a skilled workforce.

Another key initiative is the OneBio Incubator, which is designed to support startups and early-stage innovators working in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and medical research.

Expansion of Genome Valley and Pharma Villages

As part of infrastructure development, the government plans to expand Genome Valley and develop dedicated Pharma Villages across the state. These clusters are expected to offer world-class facilities backed by international collaborations.

Strong Industrial Base and Export Strength

Sridhar Babu said Telangana is home to more than 2,000 life sciences companies, making it one of the most concentrated ecosystems in the country.

The state accounts for nearly one-third of India’s pharmaceutical production and around one-fifth of the country’s total pharma exports. This strong base provides a solid foundation for scaling up under the long-term economic plan.

Global Investors Show Interest at BioAsia 2026

Several global companies expressed interest in investing in Telangana during BioAsia 2026. The Minister named firms such as Sanofi, Opella, Vaxxinova Animal Health, Tredence, and Rx Propellant.

He said these discussions reflect growing global confidence in the Telangana life sciences vision and the state’s policy stability, infrastructure, and talent pool.

Life Sciences with Social Impact

Emphasising the social importance of the sector, Sridhar Babu said life sciences innovation directly impacts healthcare access, affordability, and quality of life.

He invited industry leaders to partner with the government in building an innovation-led ecosystem that balances economic growth with social responsibility.

The Minister said the state remains committed to providing policy support, infrastructure, and skilled manpower to ensure long-term success.

Outlook: Telangana’s Global Ambition

With sustained investments, policy continuity, and global partnerships, the Telangana life sciences vision is expected to play a defining role in shaping the state’s future economy.

The government believes that life sciences, along with IT and advanced manufacturing, will position Telangana as a globally competitive state by 2047.
