Telangana to Auction 32 Mineral Blocks in 2025-26: Deputy CM Bhatti

Hyderabad, 20.01.2025 – The Telangana government plans to auction 32 blocks of minerals like limestone and manganese in the 2025-26 period, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced. This move aims to boost the state’s revenue from mining.

Speaking at the 3rd National Mining Ministers’ Conference in Konark, Odisha, Mr. Vikramarka highlighted Telangana’s rich mineral resources, including limestone, manganese, quartz, and granite. He noted that the state’s mining revenue had grown from ₹1,958 crore in 2014-15 to ₹5,440 crore in 2023-24.

The Deputy CM emphasized the importance of mineral exploration and extraction by both the Central and State governments to drive economic growth, reduce imports, and support industries. Telangana has already conducted advanced surveys to audit its mineral resources.

Currently, the state has 2,552 mining leases and has implemented a special policy for exploring minerals in riverbeds and upland areas. In 2024, two limestone blocks were successfully auctioned in Suryapet district.

Mr. Vikramarka also discussed the use of District Mineral Foundation (DMF) funds, which have collected ₹5,537 crore since 2015. These funds are being used for community development, including improving school education.
