Copenhagen(Denmark).21.09.2024: A Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) flight had to make an emergency landing after a mouse came out of a passenger’s meal. The plane was traveling from Oslo to Malaga when it was diverted to Copenhagen due to the safety risk posed by the rodent.
The airline followed its safety procedures, and passengers were later flown to Malaga on a different aircraft.
Oystein Schmidt, a spokesperson for SAS, stated that such incidents are extremely rare, and they will review the situation with their food suppliers to prevent it from happening again.
One passenger, Jarle Borrestad, described the event, saying the mouse appeared when the woman next to him opened her food. Although everyone remained calm, Borrestad took precautions by covering his legs with socks to avoid the mouse.
The diversion only added a few extra hours to their journey. In another recent animal-related travel incident, a train in southern England had to stop mid-journey after two squirrels boarded, with one refusing to leave.
