Hyderabad, February, 27,2026 : The Central Government has sanctioned an incentive of Rs 424 crore to Telangana for completing the Farmer Registry within the prescribed time. Only three states in the country achieved the target, with Telangana emerging as one of the top performers.

The incentive was approved after the state completed a comprehensive database of farmers under the Farmer Registry initiative. Central sources said the timely completion reflects transparency and efficiency in the agriculture administration. The Farmer Registry is a unified system that records key details of farmers, including land holdings, crops cultivated, crop insurance coverage, subsidies, and benefits from welfare schemes. The database is intended to ensure direct and accurate delivery of benefits to farmers.

State Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao congratulated officials and staff involved in completing the Farmer Registry. He said the incentive was recognition of the coordinated efforts by field-level workers and department officials. The minister stated that Telangana has once again demonstrated its administrative capacity by meeting the deadline. He instructed officials to ensure that every agriculture-related scheme reaches eligible farmers without delay. He added that technology played a key role in accelerating data collection and verification. Digital tools were used to compile farmer information efficiently and reduce errors in the registry.

Officials said the completed Farmer Registry will now be used as the primary reference for implementing existing and future agriculture welfare schemes in the state. The database is expected to simplify monitoring and reduce duplication of benefits. The state government is expected to use the incentive funds to further strengthen agricultural systems and improve service delivery to farmers.
