Hyderabad | January 03, 2026: The Telangana State Commission for Women (TSCW) has taken serious note of multiple complaints filed against a YouTube channel titled “Naa Anveshana”, alleging that its content contains derogatory, obscene, and demeaning remarks targeting women. The Commission stated that several videos published on the channel portray women in an objectifying manner and promote content that is offensive and harmful to their dignity.
In an official note released on Saturday, the Commission confirmed that it had received numerous representations from members of the public, women’s rights activists, and concerned citizens. The complaints allege that the channel consistently uploads content that insults women, uses vulgar language, and reinforces regressive stereotypes, thereby violating ethical and legal standards governing digital media platforms.
According to the Commission, complainants identified multiple videos that they described as highly offensive and emotionally distressing. These videos were said to contain statements that demean women and trivialize serious social issues. Acting on the complaints, the Commission collected relevant video links, channel details, and associated account information. A preliminary review of the material has already been initiated as part of the Commission’s inquiry process.
The TSCW further stated that some of the content under review may involve illegal elements. Allegations include the violation of children’s rights, circulation of inappropriate material, and content that could potentially attract criminal liability under applicable Indian laws. Officials noted that such content, if proven, could amount to serious offences under provisions related to cybercrime, child protection laws, and laws safeguarding women’s dignity.
In addition to concerns related to women’s portrayal, the Commission revealed that it had also received complaints regarding highly objectionable and obscene remarks made against Hindu deities in certain videos uploaded on the channel. These remarks were described as emotionally hurtful and capable of disturbing communal harmony. The Commission emphasized that freedom of expression does not permit the deliberate hurting of religious sentiments or the promotion of content that fosters disrespect and hatred.
Taking into account the gravity of the allegations and jurisdictional limitations, the Telangana State Commission for Women has referred the matter to the National Commission for Women (NCW). The influencer associated with the YouTube channel is reportedly residing outside India, which restricts the state body’s ability to summon or take direct legal action.
“The case has been forwarded to the National Commission for Women, as it is a central authority empowered to initiate appropriate legal proceedings and compel the appearance of the individual concerned, if required,” the Commission stated in its note. The NCW is expected to examine the complaint, coordinate with relevant central agencies, and decide on further action in accordance with the law.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of women and ensuring accountability in digital spaces. It also urged social media platforms to take proactive steps in monitoring content and enforcing community guidelines strictly. Officials called upon content creators to act responsibly and respect social, cultural, and legal boundaries while exercising freedom of expression.
This development highlights growing concerns over unregulated digital content and the need for stronger oversight mechanisms to prevent misuse of online platforms. The case is now expected to be reviewed at the national level, with further action pending the findings of the NCW.
