Hyderabad.28.07.2024: The Lal Darwaja Bonals festival is in full swing in Bhagyanagar. This year, the Lal Darwaja Sri Simhavahini Ammavari Bonala Mahotsavam in Patabasti has commenced, marking its 116th anniversary. Devotees have been arriving since early this morning to visit the goddess, causing the temple surroundings to become quite crowded. The Lal Darwaja Bonals attract devotees from across Telangana and beyond, who come to offer saplings to the goddess as part of the celebrations.

Festival Highlights

On the first day of the Lal Darwaja Bonals, Ammavari Shanti Kalyanam is being performed. The second day will feature a Ghatas procession along with Rangam Bhavishyavani and Pota Raju’s games.

The state police have made extensive arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the Bonala program. Over 500 police personnel are on duty, and there is thorough surveillance with CCTV cameras around the temple. To manage the large number of devotees, five queue lines have been set up at the temple. Separate lines are designated for women bringing bonas. Additionally, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka and his wife will present silk clothes to Amma on behalf of the state government. Special arrangements have also been made at the 23 main temples in the old town for the Bonala fair.

Liquor Shops Closed

In line with the festival’s proceedings, liquor shops are closed today in several parts of Hyderabad. The Hyderabad Police Commissioner has announced that these establishments will be shut for 24 hours. The authorities have warned that any violations of this order, including secret drug sales, will result in legal action.
