Hyderabad.12.10.2024: In a significant move, the Telangana government has initiated a comprehensive caste census, aiming to collect granular data on the socio-economic status of various communities in the state. This ambitious project, approved by the Telangana Assembly, will enable evidence-based policy interventions to bridge development gaps .
Key Objectives:
– Socio-Economic Upliftment: Gather data on education levels, income, employment, and political representation to drive customized initiatives.
– Caste Data Collation: Capture disaggregated statistics for Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Scheduled Castes (SCs), and Scheduled Tribes (STs).
– Welfare Planning: Address inequality and poverty through calibrated reservations in jobs and education, financial inclusion, and monitoring political presence.
The Survey Process:
A door-to-door household survey will be conducted, with the planning department responsible for its execution. The survey must be completed within 60 days, as per the order issued by CS Shantikumari.
