The project is divided into four categories:
- Category 1: For students in classes 2 to 4, there will be day trips to local heritage sites within their village or mandal.
- Category 2: Students in classes 5 to 8 will visit sites within a 20-30 km range for day trips.
- Category 3: Students from class 9 to intermediate level will take two-day trips to places 50-70 km away.
- Category 4: Undergraduate students will embark on four-day trips to heritage locations outside their district but within the state.
The Telangana government has allocated Rs 12.10 crore to fund trips for one lakh students. This expenditure will be covered by the departments of tourism, education, SC development, tribal welfare, and others from their available resources.
The Telangana Darshini project aims not only to inspire students but also to boost the local economy by encouraging tourism and related businesses.
