Hyderabad.17.06.2024 : The Congress government in Telangana is gearing up to implement a Rs. 2 lakh crop loan waiver by August 15.
Telangana Govt Decides Passbooks and Ration Cards Required
The plan aims to relieve farmers of loans taken during the election period. A recent proposal suggests that only those with passbooks and ration cards will be eligible for the waiver.
Exclusions and Eligibility Criteria
The proposal, which is on the agenda for the upcoming Council of Ministers meeting, recommends excluding MPs, MLAs, MLCs, income tax payers, and government employees from the loan waiver scheme.
Agricultural officers have been tasked with compiling a list of farmers who have taken loans up to Rs. 2 lakh. This list is expected to be submitted to the authorities within the next two or three days. Meanwhile, the Agriculture Department is conducting a thorough study to determine the eligibility criteria for the loan waiver.
The government plans to finalize the procedures and hold a meeting this week to discuss the implementation of the crop loan waiver, aiming to provide financial relief to eligible farmers.
