Hyderabad.14.09.2024: The Telangana government has announced a new program to recruit transgender people to help manage traffic in Hyderabad. This is the first time a state in India has created a government program specifically for the transgender community.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy shared that under this program, transgender individuals will be trained to assist the Hyderabad traffic police. The goal is to improve road management while giving stable government jobs to the transgender community, which often faces challenges in finding employment.
Officials are also working on designing special uniforms for the transgender recruits. These uniforms will be customized for individuals based on their gender identity, such as “He/She” or “Him/Her.” The details of their employment, including salaries and benefits, are being finalized to ensure they are treated fairly and equally.
After completing their training, the transgender recruits will be deployed to work with the Hyderabad traffic police. The government hopes this move will not only provide jobs for a marginalized community but also help manage the city’s traffic more effectively.
This program is a first in India, and officials believe it may be the first of its kind in the world.
