April 17, 2025 | Hyderabad : The Telangana government has announced an ambitious plan to establish a major Information Technology (IT) Knowledge Hub in Puppalaguda, located on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The IT hub will cover an expansive 450 acres of land and aims to significantly boost the state’s IT infrastructure and provide employment opportunities to thousands of youth.

This development comes as a response to the Supreme Court’s directive to halt the development of an IT park in Kancha Gachibowli, a location previously earmarked for the project. The Supreme Court had ruled that the government could not disturb the 400 acres of land in Gachibowli, which had been allocated for the IT park. As a result, the government decided to find a new location and shifted focus to Puppalaguda, where a much larger area will be developed into a thriving IT hub.
In a recent meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu convened to review and discuss the development plans for the IT Knowledge Hub. During the meeting, it was revealed that the project is expected to play a key role in transforming Hyderabad into a major tech and innovation hub. The state government has high hopes for this initiative, which is expected to bring in substantial economic growth.
According to Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, the new IT park will create up to 5 lakh new jobs, particularly for the younger generation in the region. The development of this hub will not only improve the city’s technological infrastructure but also enhance its position as one of the leading IT destinations in the country.
The land for the proposed IT hub includes areas that were previously allotted for housing societies intended for MLAs (Members of the Legislative Assembly), MPs (Members of Parliament), IAS officers, and revenue officials in Puppalaguda. However, these land allotments were recently cancelled by the Supreme Court due to concerns about the fairness and legality of the allocation process.
In addition to the land that was previously earmarked for these housing societies, the government has also decided to merge 250 acres of land from the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC). This additional land, which lies adjacent to the Puppalaguda area, will further support the development of the IT park, providing ample space for office buildings, residential areas, and other infrastructure required to establish a state-of-the-art IT hub.
The government’s decision to move forward with this project reflects its commitment to expanding the IT sector and providing much-needed employment opportunities to the growing population of young professionals in Telangana. It is also a part of the state’s broader plan to strengthen the economy and create a conducive environment for innovation, technology, and business growth.
With the development of the IT Knowledge Hub, Hyderabad is poised to see significant infrastructure development, including enhanced roads, transportation systems, utilities, and other facilities to accommodate the influx of tech professionals and business ventures that the park will attract.
The project is expected to attract global tech companies, startups, and investors, positioning Telangana as a hub for cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing, and blockchain. Additionally, the park will likely support numerous incubators and innovation centers, providing a platform for entrepreneurs and small businesses to thrive in a high-tech ecosystem.
The state government plans to expedite the project’s completion, with a focus on creating a sustainable and eco-friendly environment. The development will also include provisions for green spaces, energy-efficient buildings, and smart city technologies to ensure the long-term sustainability of the area.
The decision to create the IT hub in Puppalaguda is expected to make a lasting impact on the city’s economy, job market, and technological landscape, benefiting not just the local population but also attracting investment from global IT giants and entrepreneurs.
