Bhadrachalam.17.02.2026: In a shocking attempted murder insurance fraud case, police have arrested two accused who allegedly planned a fake road accident to claim insurance money worth over ₹2 crore.
The case came to light after serious doubts were raised over injuries suffered by a young man, which were initially reported as a road accident.
Suspicious Accident Raises Doubts
The incident occurred on the night of February 14, 2026, when Mulisettu Rama, wife of Srinivas Rao from Gannavaram village in Etapaka mandal, and her son-in-law Katta Yashwanth, aged 23, met with an accident at Mothe in Burgampadu mandal.
Katta Yashwanth was immediately shifted to Bhadrachalam hospital for treatment. Doctors observed severe head injuries, prompting family members to suspect foul play rather than a normal accident.
Complaint Filed Alleging Attempted Murder
Based on these suspicions, an application was filed with the police stating that the injuries were not caused by a simple road accident. The complaint named Katta Sai Deepak of Gannavaram village and Bhanu Prakash of Bhadrachalam as suspects.
Police registered a case under relevant sections and began a detailed investigation into the attempted murder insurance fraud case.

How the Crime Was Planned
Police revealed that on the night of February 14, the accused took Katta Yashwanth to Mothe. They allegedly made him consume alcohol before allowing him to return on his scooty.
While he was riding back, the accused followed him and attacked him from behind using an iron rod, causing serious head injuries.
Plan to Project Crime as Road Accident
The accused reportedly planned to portray the attack as a road accident if the victim died. Their intention was to claim insurance money exceeding ₹2 crore.
However, timely medical treatment saved Katta Yashwanth’s life, leading to the exposure of the attempted murder insurance fraud case.
Confession During Police Investigation
During questioning, both accused confessed to the crime. Police stated that the confession matched the medical evidence and the sequence of events gathered during the investigation.
Authorities are now examining insurance documents and financial records to strengthen the case.
