Hyderabad,March,02,2026: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation on March 2 clarified that there is no free bus travel facility for persons with disabilities in its buses. The clarification came after reports circulating on social media claimed otherwise.
TGSRTC stated that the information being shared online is false and misleading. The corporation said no official orders have been issued granting free travel to persons with disabilities.
In a post on its official social media handle on March 2, TGSRTC warned that strict criminal action would be taken against individuals spreading fake news. The public was advised to rely only on official announcements issued by the corporation.
The clarification follows confusion created by unverified posts on social media platforms claiming that free bus rides had been approved for persons with disabilities across Telangana.
TGSRTC also reiterated that any changes to travel concessions or fare policies would be communicated only through official channels.
Earlier, the corporation had announced a separate travel concession for a limited period. TGSRTC said that male candidates holding valid bus passes were allowed to travel free of cost to and from examination centres in the Greater Hyderabad zone.
This facility was provided in view of the ongoing Intermediate Public Examinations 2026. The free travel was applicable between February 25 and March 13.
The corporation clarified that the examination-related concession should not be confused with general free travel schemes.
TGSRTC urged commuters to verify information before sharing it on social media to avoid unnecessary confusion and legal consequences.
No further changes to existing travel concessions have been announced as of now.
Any future decisions regarding free or concessional travel will be communicated through official notifications, the corporation added.
