New Delhi.05.07.2024: In a significant move set to revolutionize caller identification in India, TRAI has announced the launch of the Truecaller Name Presentation Service starting from July 15th. This service aims to eliminate the need for third-party apps like Truecaller, which are commonly used to identify unknown callers.
Truecaller, along with similar applications, requires access to sensitive call details and contacts on users’ phones, raising privacy concerns and potential risks of data misuse.
With Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s new initiative, users will no longer be dependent on external apps to identify calls from unfamiliar numbers. The Name Presentation Service will directly display caller details on the screen, providing a seamless and secure alternative to current methods.
This decision by TRAI not only enhances user privacy but also simplifies the process of identifying incoming calls without compromising personal data.
