Hyderabad, March,15,2026: Half-day school timings will begin in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana starting March 16. The new schedule will apply to government, aided, and private schools as the academic year 2025–26 approaches its end.
The decision to implement half-day school timings has been taken as schools prepare to conclude the current academic year on April 23. Authorities in both states have issued instructions to ensure that all schools follow the revised schedule.
In Telangana, schools will function from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Government schools will continue serving midday meals, which will be provided at 12:30 PM before students leave for the day.
Officials have directed private schools to strictly follow the same timetable. Authorities have made it clear that no exemptions will be allowed and that schools must close after the half-day session.
In Andhra Pradesh, schools will operate slightly earlier under the new schedule. The Department of School Education has announced that classes will run from 7:45 AM to 12:30 PM until the end of the academic year.
The midday meal programme will continue in government schools across the state during this period. Officials said the arrangement will remain in place until April 23, which will be the final working day for schools in the 2025–26 academic year.
Education departments in both states confirmed that summer holidays will begin from April 24. The break will continue for several weeks before the start of the next academic cycle.
Schools in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are scheduled to reopen on June 12 for the 2026–27 academic year. Authorities expect institutions to resume regular class schedules once the new academic session begins.
The implementation of half-day school timings is a routine measure adopted toward the end of the academic year in the Telugu states. It allows schools to complete remaining academic activities while preparing for the upcoming summer vacation.
