Telangana Cheyutha Pension

In the first phase, new pensions will be considered for eligible single women, widows, persons with disabilities, toddy tappers, handloom workers, and people affected by filariasis, thalassemia, sickle cell disease and haemophilia.

No Change in Eligibility Criteria

The government has clarified that there is no change in the eligibility criteria for new pensions. Eligibility will be assessed based on the criteria specified in government orders issued between 2014 and 2018.

Applications already received during Praja Palana programmes, 99-day progress plan gram sabhas and Prajavani will also be considered. Applicants who had previously submitted applications along with all required documents do not need to apply again. Those who had not submitted the necessary documents, as well as eligible people who have not applied so far, can submit fresh applications.

Documents Required for Verification

District Collectors will coordinate with the concerned departments to obtain the necessary certificates for determining eligibility. Widows will require a husbandโ€™s death certificate, while single women will need a separation certificate or a report based on local verification. Toddy tappers will require verification from the Excise Department, handloom workers will need certification from the Handlooms and Textiles Department, and filariasis patients will require certification from the Medical and Health Department.

Field Verification Before Pension Approval

After scrutiny of applications, designated officials will conduct field-level verification to establish eligibility. The eligible list will then be forwarded to the district level, after which the pension sanction process will be completed with the approval of the District Collector.

Self-help group federations have also been assigned responsibilities to ensure that eligible beneficiaries are not left out. They have been asked to particularly assist eligible widows and single women in submitting applications and obtaining the required documents.

The application process for new Cheyutha pensions will continue until August 31, 2026. Details submitted through the applications will also be entered into the Cheyutha portal as part of the implementation process.

The government has directed officials to complete the process transparently and according to the prescribed rules so that eligible beneficiaries can receive the intended social security benefits.
