Hyderabad.27.03.2025: Telecom companies in India are working on a new system to stop spam calls. This system will allow users to see the caller’s name on their screen without using third-party apps like Truecaller.

Caller ID Service Without Apps
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has partnered with major telecom companies like Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea to introduce built-in Caller ID services. This means that when someone calls, their name will appear on the screen automatically, without needing any extra apps.
How It Works
- Telecom companies are working with HP, Dell, Ericsson, and Nokia to develop this technology.
- The feature will first be available only for calls within the same network. For example, a Jio user will see the caller ID of another Jio user, but not an Airtel or Vodafone Idea user.
- If telecom companies agree to share caller information, the service will work across all networks.
Impact on Spam Calls
Once this service is active, spam calls can be reduced because users will know who is calling them before answering. This will help protect people from fraud and unwanted calls.
Launch in Phases
The Caller ID feature will be rolled out in phases. Initially, it will be available only for users within the same network, but in the future, it may expand to all networks.
This new step by TRAI and telecom companies aims to make mobile communication safer and more reliable for everyone.
