31.01.2025,Thiruvananthapuram: Team India delivered a powerful and unforgettable performance against New Zealand in the fifth T20 match at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. Just before the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026, the Indian team showed its strength by scoring a huge total of 271 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. It was one of the highest team totals in T20 cricket history and proved India’s strong batting power.

After winning the toss, captain Suryakumar Yadav chose to bat first without any hesitation. However, the start was not perfect for India. Sanju Samson, who was playing on his home ground, could score only 6 runs and got out early. Young opener Abhishek Sharma showed some good shots and scored 30 runs, but he too could not stay long at the crease.

Then came the real show of the match.

Ishan Kishan, who returned to the team, played one of the best innings of his career. From the very first ball, he attacked the New Zealand bowlers with confidence. He reached his half-century in just 28 balls. After that, he increased his speed and smashed boundaries all around the ground. Ishan completed his century in only 42 balls, which thrilled the crowd. His amazing innings included 10 huge sixes and 6 fours. One special moment was when he scored 29 runs in a single over against spinner Ish Sodhi. Although he got out for 103 runs, he had already done the damage.

Captain Suryakumar Yadav also played a fantastic knock. Known for his 360-degree shots, he scored 63 runs from just 30 balls. His innings included 4 fours and 6 sixes. He built a strong 137-run partnership with Ishan Kishan, which helped India move towards a big total.

In the final overs, Hardik Pandya added more fireworks. He smashed 42 runs from only 17 balls, hitting big sixes and boundaries. His quick runs helped India reach the huge total of 271 runs.

The New Zealand bowlers struggled badly. Lockie Ferguson and Jacob Duffy gave away many runs and could not stop the Indian batters.

With this strong batting display, India has sent a clear message to all teams before the T20 World Cup. Now, all eyes are on New Zealand to see if they can chase such a massive target. But one thing is certain — Team India looks ready and confident for the big tournament ahead.
