Medaram, February,28,2026: Telangana Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Thursday reviewed the progress of permanent development works at Medaram following the conclusion of the Sammakka Saralamma Jathara.

Medaram development works

The minister stated that coordinated efforts ensured the successful conduct of the biennial tribal festival and said the remaining works at Medaram are in their final stages and will be completed soon.

The review was conducted at Medaram in Tadvai mandal of Warangal district along with Minister Danasari Seethakka, local public representatives, the district collector, senior officials, and contractors. During the visit, the ministers offered prayers at the gaddelu of Sammakka, Saralamma, Pagididda Raju, and Govinda Raju.

Officials presented updates on permanent infrastructure works taken up by the state government at an estimated cost of Rs 251 crore. The team conducted field-level inspections at key locations including Jampanna Vagu, Haritha area, Uorattam, Chilakala Gutta, and the RTC junction.

Authorities informed the ministers that around 95 percent of the works were completed before the Jathara. Instructions were issued to complete the remaining five percent of works without delay. A review meeting was also held later in the day to assess timelines and execution.

According to official estimates, about 1.55 crore devotees visited Medaram during the Jathara held in January. The minister said the event was conducted in a planned manner under the guidance of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, with coordination among ministers, the local MP, district administration, officials, and media, ensuring minimal inconvenience to devotees.

The minister said permanent stone structures were developed to last for decades, keeping in view not only the biennial Jathara but long-term requirements. He noted that Medaram is expected to receive increased footfall on weekends and holidays and said a master plan would be implemented in the future as per the Chief Minister’s directions.

He added that a cabinet decision was taken last month to bring Godavari water to Jampanna Vagu to ensure year-round water availability. Work on the first phase of five check dams on the stream will begin shortly. Beautification of two existing irrigation tanks in the area has also been proposed.

To ease traffic during the Jathara, around 29 acres of land had earlier been acquired for widening forest roads, and further land acquisition will be taken up if required. The government also plans to develop temples along the Godavari belt from Basara to Bhadrachalam, with works expected to begin soon.
