Hyderabad, March,03,2026: Lunar Eclipse 2026 will be observed on Tuesday from 3.21 pm to 7.52 pm. In view of the celestial event, several major temples in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will remain temporarily closed.
Temple authorities said shrines will reopen only after purification rituals are completed following the eclipse.
Tirumala Tirupati
Temples under the administration of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams will remain closed from 9 am to 7.30 pm. Devotees will be allowed darshan from 8.30 pm after completion of purification rituals.
Annadanam services will also be suspended temporarily. TTD has requested devotees to plan their visits in advance due to revised darshan timings.
Telangana Temples
At Dharmapuri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Jagtial district, the shrine will close at 9 am and reopen on Wednesday morning after samprokshanam and special rituals.
In Rajanna Sircilla district, Vemulawada Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple, along with Sri Bhimeshwara Swamy temple and associated shrines, will remain closed from 6.15 am to 7.15 pm. Rituals will be conducted before reopening for devotees.
At Yadagirigutta Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple, the main and subsidiary shrines will remain closed during the eclipse. The temple will reopen at 3 am on Wednesday after purification and daily rituals.
Odela Mallikarjuna Swamy temple will also remain closed and reopen after special rituals on Wednesday morning.
Komuravelli Mallikarjuna Swamy temple in Siddipet district will be closed from 6 am to 7.30 pm. Authorities said devotees will be allowed entry after temple purification procedures.
Temples Remaining Open
Despite the Lunar Eclipse 2026, some temples across India will remain open.
These include Srikalahasti temple in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachaleswara temple in Tamil Nadu, Udupi Sri Krishna temple in Karnataka, and Thiruvaarppu Sri Krishna temple in Kerala.
In northern India, Mahakaleshwar temple in Madhya Pradesh, Kalkaji Devi temple in Delhi, Vishnupad temple in Bihar, Lakshminath temple in Rajasthan, and Kalpeshwar temple in Uttarakhand will remain open.
Temple authorities across states said standard rituals and observances will be followed as per local traditions during the eclipse period.
The lunar eclipse is considered significant in Hindu tradition, and many temples close their doors during the event as part of customary practice.
Devotees have been advised to check local temple timings before visiting.
