Hyderabad, March,04,2026 : The Telangana Population Census 2026-27 will begin its first phase from May 11, with the state government preparing to conduct house listing and building enumeration across the state.
Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao directed officials to carry out the process in a systematic manner between May 11 and June 9.
The instructions were issued during a review meeting held at the State Secretariat on Tuesday evening. Secretaries of various departments and District Collectors attended the meeting.
The Chief Secretary reviewed the arrangements along with Bharati Holikeri, Director of Census Operations in the state. Detailed discussions were held on the house listing process and data collection procedures.
Officials said every house and structure in the state will be covered during the first phase. The exercise is part of the Telangana Population Census 2026-27 being undertaken across the state.
This time, the census process will be conducted entirely through a digital system. Field staff will use a specially designed mobile application to record data directly on their smartphones.
The government stated that this digital method will help ensure faster transmission of data to a centralised system and improve accuracy.
In addition to door-to-door data collection, the government will provide a self-enumeration facility. Citizens will be able to submit their details online.
According to Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, the online self-enumeration process will begin 15 days before May 11.
The house listing phase is the first stage of the Telangana Population Census 2026-27. Further steps in the census process are expected to follow as per the official schedule.
