Chennai, March,10,2026: Actor and Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam leader Vijay has faced criticism from within his own party over remarks related to his personal life. The comments were made by party women’s wing leader Ranjana Nachiyar following statements Vijay reportedly made on Women’s Day.
The issue has drawn attention after Vijay spoke about his personal life and divorce during recent interactions, which led to criticism from members of his own political organization.
Ranjana Nachiyar, a leader from the women’s wing of Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam, strongly objected to Vijay’s remarks. Speaking to the news agency ANI, she questioned the actor turned politician’s comments regarding his family life.
She said a person who does not show respect to his own wife cannot be expected to respect other women. Nachiyar stated that Vijay had been married for about 20 years and that his wife is the mother of his two children. According to her, speaking about such a relationship as if it is not an important matter sends the wrong message.
Nachiyar also expressed concern that a political leader aspiring to hold a high public office should act as a role model for society. She said such comments could influence young people negatively and create the wrong impression about family values.
In addition to the remarks about his personal life, she also criticized Vijay for attending a wedding function with actor Trisha while a divorce case is reportedly ongoing. She said public figures should be mindful of how their actions are perceived, especially when they hold leadership positions.
Nachiyar further stated that respect within one’s own family should come before political ambitions. She added that leaders entering politics are expected to maintain conduct that reflects responsibility and social values.
Vijay recently entered active politics and launched the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam party. Since then, his political statements and public appearances have drawn attention across Tamil Nadu.
The comments by Ranjana Nachiyar have now sparked discussion within the party and among political observers. There has been no immediate public response from Vijay regarding the criticism at the time of reporting.
