Flood Threat Eases as Godavari Recedes at Bhadrachalam

Bhadrachalam.11.09.2024: The water level in the Godavari River at Bhadrachalam has been receding, and the second flood warning was lifted as the water level dropped to 47.80 feet at 8 PM on Wednesday. However, the first warning is still in place.

Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao visited Bhadrachalam to review the flood situation with district officials. He noted that the construction of a new protective wall, known as a karakatta, with a budget of Rs 40 crore, helped prevent flooding in Bhadrachalam town and the surrounding villages. The minister mentioned that the karakatta would be completed by next year to provide permanent protection against future floods.
