How to Port Jio to BSNL: BSNL’s Big Update on Network Coverage
Dharamshala.19.07.2024: Public sector telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced a significant update for its customers in Himachal Pradesh. BSNL has started providing 4G services, completely based on indigenous technology developed by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). This new 4G service aims to address network coverage issues significantly.
Senior General Manager of BSNL Dharamshala, Vipin Kumar Maurya, stated that the problems of network coverage will be largely resolved with this new indigenous 4G technology. He explained that the previous core network is being replaced with an indigenous core network, which includes network hardware, devices, and software related to telecom services. This core network supports fundamental services like aggregation, call control, switching, authentication, charging, and gateway.
6,000 Customers Join BSNL in Last 15 Days
BSNL has seen a surge in new customers, with around 6,000 mobile consumers joining in the past 15 days. The 4G services are being rolled out under two projects. The first project focuses on areas with no signal from any operator, with 112 sites in Chamba and 33 sites in Kangra being covered. The second project includes 246 sites, where 153 sites in Kangra and 8 sites in Chamba are already providing better network services.
Network Issues Due to Fiber Cutting
The General Manager noted that road widening and other digging activities in areas like Nurpur, Shahpur, Rait, Gaggal, Dalhousie, and Chamba have caused repeated fiber cuts, affecting network services. Efforts are ongoing to address these disruptions.
