Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day is projected to deliver one of the biggest box office debuts of 2026, with industry estimates pointing to a worldwide opening of around $465 million. The film, starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, is expected to dominate both domestic and international markets during its opening weekend.

According to industry projections, the movie could earn around $195 million in North America across approximately 4,300 theatres, although some analysts believe the opening could exceed $200 million if audience demand remains strong. International markets are expected to contribute roughly $270 million, led by major territories across Europe, Latin America and Asia.

The latest Spider-Man installment has generated significant pre-release interest, with reports indicating approximately $80 million in North American advance ticket sales, a figure comparable to the presales recorded by Spider-Man: No Way Home. The film currently holds an 89% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, reflecting generally positive early reviews.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, taking over from Jon Watts, who helmed the previous Tom Holland Spider-Man trilogy. The new film follows a more emotionally driven storyline, with Sony and Marvel focusing on character relationships and higher personal stakes rather than relying on multiverse-style spectacle.

The international rollout begins on Wednesday in several countries including Brazil, China, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, South Korea, Spain and the United Kingdom. The film opens in India on Thursday, alongside Australia and Saudi Arabia, while Japan will receive the release on Friday.

Industry observers note that while projections remain strong, actual weekend performance will depend on walk-up ticket sales and audience reception. If estimates hold, the film would become one of Sony Pictures’ biggest worldwide openings, trailing only Spider-Man: No Way Home in the studio’s history.

The strong launch is also expected to intensify competition at the global box office, where Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey continues its successful theatrical run after a record-breaking second weekend.

Outlook: Final box office figures will be confirmed after the opening weekend, with analysts closely watching whether Spider-Man: Brand New Day can outperform current projections and set new records for 2026.
