Honor Robot Phone has officially gone on sale in China, bringing its unusual motorised camera system to consumers after the smartphone was unveiled earlier this month. The flagship starts at CNY 9,999 for the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage model, while the higher-end 16GB/1TB version costs CNY 12,999.
The device stands out from conventional smartphones with a built-in mechanical gimbal that allows its camera to physically move, rather than relying only on software-based stabilisation. Honor says the Robot Phone was designed to combine mobile photography, artificial intelligence and cinematic video capabilities.
200MP camera with motorised gimbal
The headline feature is a 200MP main camera mounted on a motorised gimbal system. The mechanism can move the camera to help with stabilisation, subject tracking and different shooting scenarios. The phone also includes additional high-resolution cameras, including a 200MP telephoto camera and a 50MP ultrawide camera.
Honor has also partnered with cinema technology company ARRI for imaging technology. The collaboration brings features such as ARRI colour science and LogC3 support to the smartphone, targeting users interested in advanced mobile video production.

What makes the Robot Phone different?
Unlike conventional smartphones, the Robot Phone uses moving hardware to give its camera greater freedom of movement. Its combination of a motorised gimbal, AI-assisted tracking and cinema-focused imaging technology makes it particularly distinctive for mobile video creators and vloggers.
The launch marks Honorโs latest attempt to push smartphone design beyond conventional camera modules and explore new ways of combining artificial intelligence, robotics and mobile photography.
