HYDERABAD.24.09.2024: The Telangana government has stepped up efforts to restore peace in Jainoor, Kumurambheem Asifabad district, following clashes between Gond tribals and Muslims earlier this month. The tensions arose after an alleged rape incident, and the government is now actively mediating between the two communities to prevent further unrest.
A high-level delegation, including Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister D Anasuya (Seethakka), Khanapur MLA Vedma Bhojju Patel, and Telangana government adviser Mohammed Ali Shabbir, met with community leaders at the Secretariat in Hyderabad on Monday. Their primary focus was to facilitate peace talks and ensure justice for the victim, while discouraging any violence or retaliatory actions in Jainoor.
The minister reassured the Gond community that the state would guarantee justice through the legal system. She also urged them not to hold the entire Muslim community accountable for the actions of one individual. Simultaneously, Shabbir Ali engaged with Muslim community leaders, emphasizing that any unlawful behavior would be met with strict consequences.
Steps Towards Long-Term Peace in Jainoor
The Telangana government is committed to preventing similar incidents in the future. Shabbir Ali announced that a meeting will soon be held in Jainoor with local Muslim leaders to understand the root causes of the conflict and to propose solutions for long-term harmony. The state government is also conducting a detailed study to examine the underlying issues, including women’s safety and social conflicts, to build sustainable peace in the region.
In the meantime, Minister Anasuya and MLA Bhojju Patel have already submitted their report to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, highlighting the urgency of resolving the violence in Jainoor.
Shabbir Ali expressed optimism, noting that both elders and youth from the Gond and Muslim communities are eager for peace to return to Jainoor. The Congress government continues to actively work on bridging the divide between the groups through dialogue and mutual understanding.
