Hyderabad,April,01,2026: Cement and steel prices are expected to increase soon, bringing bad news for people planning house construction. Companies are preparing to officially announce the price hike at the start of the new financial year.
The expected price increase is linked to the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict in West Asia, which is impacting fuel and raw material costs. This situation is likely to affect construction material prices in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Market sources say the cement bag price may increase by around Rs.50. The new prices are likely to come into effect from next week. Currently, the retail price of a cement bag ranges between Rs.280 and Rs.320. After the price hike, it may increase to around Rs.320 to Rs.370.
The increase in petroleum coke prices from 130 dollars to 165 dollars and the rise in industrial diesel prices by Rs.23.75 are said to be the main reasons for the price hike. Fuel and transportation costs play a major role in cement production, which directly affects retail prices.
Steel Prices Also Increasing
Steel prices are also expected to rise significantly. Market reports indicate that steel prices may increase by up to Rs.2,000 per ton due to rising raw material and fuel costs.
Companies state that increasing crude oil prices, thermal coal prices, and petroleum coke prices in the international market are putting pressure on production costs. In the last 15 days alone, crude oil prices increased by 39 percent, thermal coal by 14 percent, and pet coke prices by 18 percent.
Due to rising production costs, companies say they may need to increase cement prices by at least Rs.60 per bag to manage expenses and production costs.
The official announcement regarding the price hike is expected soon, and the new prices may come into effect from next week.
