Hyderabad, March,09,2026: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy reviewed the State Sports Department and discussed plans to strengthen sports infrastructure across Telangana. The review meeting focused on developing international-standard facilities, including improvements at the Young India Sports University.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasised the need to build a strong sports ecosystem that can support athletes preparing for international competitions, including the Olympics.
The meeting was attended by Ministers Vakiti Srihari and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, along with Vem Narender Reddy. Senior officials including SAT Chairman Shivasena Reddy, Chief Secretary K Ramkrishna Rao, Principal Secretaries to the Chief Minister K S Srinivasa Raju and V Seshadri, SAT Managing Director Soni Baladevi, Young India Sports University Vice Chancellor Dr G Kishore and other officials were also present.
The Chief Minister reviewed proposals to provide international-standard facilities at the Young India Sports University and to develop sports grounds for multiple disciplines. He said the State should establish a sports university with all the necessary infrastructure to train athletes with the Olympics as the ultimate goal.
Officials were directed to revamp the Gachibowli Outdoor Stadium and develop additional infrastructure within the stadium campus. The proposed developments include an indoor stadium, a university complex, hostels, sports grounds for various disciplines and other training facilities.
The Chief Minister also examined several design proposals for the planned constructions and provided suggestions to the officials during the review.
According to the Chief Minister, the State should prepare plans that could enable Telangana to host major international sporting events such as the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games. He also stressed that athletes from Telangana should be provided with the necessary support to showcase their talent at the Olympics.
In addition, the Chief Minister instructed officials to modernise Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy Stadium, LB Stadium and Saroor Nagar Stadium to meet future training and competition requirements.
The review meeting focused on strengthening sports infrastructure across the State and improving facilities for athletes through upgraded stadiums, training centres and institutional support.
Officials will now work on the proposed designs and development plans discussed during the meeting as part of the broader effort to improve sports facilities in Telangana.
