Telangana Cabinet Approves 30,000-Acre Future City Project

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has approved the development of a 30,000-acre Future City Project between the Nagarjuna Sagar and Srisailam highways. This project will cover seven mandals and include 56 villages on Hyderabad’s outskirts, which will now be part of the Future City Development Authority (FCDA).

Expansion of HMDA Limits

The cabinet has expanded the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to cover 11 districts, 104 mandals, and 1,355 villages. The new HMDA limits will extend from the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to 2 km beyond the Regional Ring Road (RRR).

Telangana has been divided into three zones:

  • Core Area – Inside the ORR
  • Urban Buffer Zone – Between ORR and RRR, extending 2 km beyond RRR
  • Rural Telangana – Areas outside the urban buffer zone

Key Cabinet Decisions

Employment & Administration:

  • Approval of 90 new posts for the FCDA.
  • Addition of 332 new revenue villages under HMDA.
  • Absorbing village revenue officers (VROs) and assistants (VRAs) into village-level officer (VLO) roles across 10,954 villages.

Social Welfare & Development:

  • Proposal for 42% reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) in education, jobs, and local government.
  • Plan to introduce the SC Categorization Bill in the next assembly session.
  • Launch of Indira Mahila Shakti Mission-2025, unifying women’s self-help groups from MEPMA and SERP.
  • Increase in self-help group (SHG) membership age from 15 to 65 years.

Infrastructure & Tourism:

  • Approval for Yadagirigutta Temple Board formation.
  • Development of 27 new tourist destinations under Telangana Tourism Policy-2025.
  • Hosting of the Miss World Pageant 2025 in Telangana.
  • Clearance of 5 acres for an ESI Hospital in Pedda Golconda.
  • Reduction of Gandhamalla Reservoir’s storage capacity from 4.2 TMCft to 1.41 TMCft.

Employment & Recognition:

  • Government job for Para Olympian Deepthi.
  • Creation of 361 new posts for revenue divisions and mandals.
  • Approval of 330 new positions in residential educational institutions.

Political Developments

The cabinet discussed the Centre’s delimitation process, claiming it follows a north-south bias. An all-party meeting, led by Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka and senior leader K Jana Reddy, will address this issue.

Conclusion

These decisions reflect the government’s focus on urban expansion, employment, infrastructure, and welfare. The Future City Project aims to boost Hyderabad’s growth, while other initiatives support social and economic development across Telangana.
