Heavy downpour in Medak, Kamareddy; IMD warns of very heavy rainfall in Telangana

Hyderabad, Aug 27, 2025: Several districts of Telangana witnessed heavy rains in the past 24 hours due to a low-pressure area over Odisha, with Medak and Kamareddy recording the highest downpour.

Tekmal in Medak received 183.3 mm of rainfall, followed by Bodagat ESS (176.8 mm) and Shankarampet A (171.8 mm). Lingampet and Lingampally in Kamareddy reported 120.3 mm, while Bhongir in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district saw 117.8 mm.

According to the IMD-Hyderabad forecast, very heavy rainfall is likely in Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, and Sangareddy districts on Thursday.

Heavy rain is also expected at isolated places in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sirisilla, Karimnagar, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal districts.

The IMD has also warned of heavy rainfall in Hyderabad and surrounding regions, urging people to stay alert as more showers are expected in northern and central Telangana.
