According to officials, the ACB carried out searches as part of an investigation into alleged illegal collections linked to Karimnagar Urban Excise Circle Inspector Gundeti Ramu. During the raids, authorities seized a significant amount of cash and gold ornaments from his house.

Officials said the case involves allegations that the excise officer collected illegal payments while in service. The investigation also led to the arrest of Jakkani Venu, a teacher from Jagtial district who allegedly assisted in handling the money.

ACB officials stated that the illegal funds were not taken directly by the officer. Instead, the money was reportedly transferred through the bank accounts of the teacher to the accounts of Ramuโ€™s family members.

The investigation found that the alleged illegal collections were linked to a jaggery trader during the period when Ramu was serving as SHO in Vemulawada. Authorities believe the payments were collected as regular illegal charges.

During the search operation at the officerโ€™s residence, ACB officials seized about Rs 20 lakh in cash along with gold ornaments. The seized assets are now part of the ongoing investigation.

After completing the raids and questioning, ACB officials took both accused into custody. The two were produced before a court on Wednesday as part of the legal process.

The Anti Corruption Bureau continues to investigate the case to determine the full extent of the alleged illegal transactions and financial transfers linked to the officer.
