Hyderabad: The Southwest Monsoon arrived early in Telangana on Monday, about two weeks before its usual time. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad said heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected across the state throughout the week until Saturday, May 31.

According to IMD-New Delhi, the monsoon has advanced into more parts of the central Arabian Sea, Maharashtra (including Mumbai), Karnataka (including Bengaluru), Tamil Nadu, and parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh as of May 26.
Usually, the monsoon reaches Telangana between June 8 and June 10 and covers the entire state by June 12 to 14. But this year, it is already active in parts of Telangana by May 26.
The IMD-Hyderabad has issued warnings for:
- Heavy rain on Monday and Tuesday
- Heavy to very heavy rain on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
Districts likely to be most affected include:
- Southern Telangana: Gadwal, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Nalgonda
- Other districts: Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Narayanpet, Wanaparthy, Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Bhupalapally
Throughout the week, maximum temperatures across all 33 districts in Telangana will drop by up to 3°C.
For Hyderabad, the weather is expected to be generally cloudy wSouthwest Monsoon Arrives Early in Telangana, Heavy Rains Expected All Weekith light to moderate rain or drizzle and gusty winds (30–40 km/h) until May 30.
Weather analyst T. Balaji confirmed that the monsoon is already active in southern Telangana.
