Hyderabad,March,10,2026 : Shiv Pratap Shukla, who has been appointed as the new Telangana Governor, arrived in Hyderabad on Tuesday. He was received at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, IT Minister Sridhar Babu, other ministers and senior officials.
Shiv Pratap Shukla reached Hyderabad around 12 pm along with his spouse. State leaders and officials welcomed the newly appointed governor upon his arrival at the airport.
The appointment comes after the recent reshuffle of governors carried out by President Droupadi Murmu. As part of the changes, Shiv Pratap Shukla, who was serving as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, has been transferred to Telangana.
The current Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma has been transferred to Maharashtra under the same reshuffle.
Shiv Pratap Shukla is scheduled to take oath as the Telangana Governor on Wednesday. The oath ceremony will be administered by Telangana High Court Chief Justice Aparesha Kumar Singh.
Preparations for the swearing-in ceremony are currently underway at Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad.
The newly appointed governor is also expected to address the joint session of the Telangana Legislature on March 16. The speech will mark his first official address to the state assembly.
The Telangana Assembly budget session is scheduled to begin on March 16. During the session, the state government is expected to present the budget for the financial year 2026–27.
Shiv Pratap Shukla is a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party from Uttar Pradesh. He previously represented Uttar Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha.
He also served as the Union Minister of State for Finance from 2017 to 2019 in the central government.
In February 2023, he was appointed as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh and served in that position until the recent transfer.
With his arrival in Hyderabad and the upcoming oath ceremony, Shiv Pratap Shukla will soon assume charge as the new Telangana Governor.
