Hyderabad.13.02.2026: The Telangana Journalist Accreditation Cards process has been expanded significantly, with the state government deciding to issue a total of 44,706 cards across various media categories.
Revenue, Housing and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the government is committed to ensuring that every eligible journalist in the state receives an accreditation card through a transparent and fair system.
Government Commitment to Telangana Journalist Accreditation Cards
Speaking at a review meeting held at the Secretariat on Thursday, Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy stated that the people’s government under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is working with full dedication for the welfare of journalists.
The minister held detailed discussions with Information and Public Relations Commissioner C.H. Priyanka and Chief Minister’s CPRO G. Malsur regarding the issuance process and formation of accreditation committees.
He directed officials to ensure that the Telangana Journalist Accreditation Cards are issued in a transparent and speedy manner.
GO 252 Revised with GO 103 After Journalist Consultations
The minister explained that the government had initially issued GO 252 for accreditation cards. Later, after holding meetings with journalist associations and considering their suggestions, necessary amendments were made.
Following these revisions, GO 103 was issued to expand the scope and eligibility of Telangana Journalist Accreditation Cards.
As a result of the changes, journalists from print, electronic and digital media across the state will benefit.
Accreditation Cards Increase by Over 21,000
Earlier, only around 23,000 journalists had accreditation cards in the state. With the latest decision, the number will increase by more than 21,000, taking the total to 44,706 Telangana Journalist Accreditation Cards.
This expansion is expected to provide wider representation and official recognition to working journalists across various levels.
Category-Wise Distribution of Accreditation Cards
- 8 newspapers with circulation above 2.5 lakh – 6,256 cards
- 24 newspapers with circulation between 75,000 and 2.5 lakh – 17,784 cards
- 30 newspapers with circulation between 25,001 and 75,000 – 3,390 cards
- 169 small newspapers with circulation between 15,001 and 25,000 – 11,661 cards
- 113 small newspapers with circulation below 15,000 – 226 cards
- Periodicals – 624 cards
- 20 news agencies – 68 cards
Electronic and Digital Media Allocation
- 21 satellite channels – 4,431 cards
- 8 national channels – 32 cards
- 100 local cable channels – 200 cards
- Digital media – 10 cards
Out of the total 44,706 Telangana Journalist Accreditation Cards, 16,056 will be issued at the state and district levels, while 28,650 will be granted at the constituency and mandal levels.
Continuous Process for Journalist Welfare
The minister clarified that the issuance of Telangana Journalist Accreditation Cards is a continuous process. Based on future requirements, further review meetings will be conducted and additional steps will be taken if necessary.
He emphasized that the media plays a crucial role as the fourth pillar of democracy. The government gives top priority to the dignity, security and welfare of journalists.
The expanded Telangana Journalist Accreditation Cards system is expected to strengthen institutional support for journalists and improve transparency in the recognition process.
