Telangana has expanded its Prajavani public grievance programme to the mandal level from Monday, August 17, allowing people to submit complaints closer to their homes. The programme will be conducted every Monday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with applications registered and a registration number issued to applicants.

The expansion is aimed at making grievance redressal more accessible and reducing the need for people from rural areas to travel to district headquarters or Hyderabad. The move follows the state government’s decision to take Prajavani services to the grassroots level.

Applications to be registered and tracked

Officials will receive written applications containing the applicant’s grievance, address and mobile number. Each petition is to be entered on the Prajavani portal, after which a registration number will be provided so that applicants can track the status of their grievance.

Mandal-level Prajavani will involve Mandal Parishad Development Officers (MPDOs) as nodal officers. The state government has also been working towards a unified digital mechanism for registering, tracking and resolving grievances at different administrative levels.

Officials from several departments to attend

The programme is expected to bring together officials from departments including revenue, agriculture, horticulture, education, health, animal husbandry, panchayat raj, electricity, fisheries and housing. Officials from SC, ST, BC, minority and women and child welfare departments, along with forest officials, Anganwadi supervisors and local police representatives, have also been directed to attend.

Government guidelines call for adequate infrastructure at the grievance centres, including computers, scanners and internet connectivity. Data-entry and help-desk personnel are also being trained to support the registration process.

Farmer Vedikas may also be used

Farmer Vedikas in several mandals may be used as venues for the programme where required. According to the information provided by the state government, the arrangement has been approved by Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, with the aim of making the grievance programme more accessible at the local level.

Focus on grassroots grievance redressal

The Telangana government has been moving towards decentralising Prajavani services. In April 2026, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed officials to expand the grievance mechanism to revenue divisions and mandals and establish systems for registration, forwarding and status tracking of complaints.

The mandal-level rollout is intended to strengthen local grievance redressal by enabling residents to approach officials directly within their administrative area.
