Telangana Government Assures Support to Families Affected by Medina Bus Tragedy

Hyderabad, February,28,2026: The Telangana government has assured full support to the families of those who lost their lives in the Medina bus tragedy. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met the affected families and conveyed the government’s commitment to stand with them during the difficult period.

Medina Bus Tragedy

The Chief Minister interacted with family members of the deceased and injured, offering condolences and reassurance. He stated that the government would extend all possible assistance to help the families cope with their loss following the Medina bus tragedy.

Immediately after the incident in Saudi Arabia, the state government deputed a delegation to Medina. The team was led by Minority Welfare Minister Mohd. Azharuddin and was tasked with coordinating relief measures and supporting the families of the victims.

The delegation worked closely with officials from the Indian Consulate and Saudi authorities. With their coordination, the last rites of the deceased were carried out at Jannatul Baqi in Medina, in accordance with local procedures.

On humanitarian grounds, the Telangana government announced financial assistance for the affected families. An ex gratia amount of ₹5 lakh was sanctioned for each family of the 44 deceased persons. Additionally, ₹3 lakh was provided to each individual who sustained serious injuries in the accident.

During the interaction, the Chief Minister recalled his long-standing association with the minority community. He noted that since 2009, he has been personally sponsoring five Haj pilgrims every year from the Kodangal Assembly constituency.

Officials said the government remains in touch with authorities in Saudi Arabia to ensure that all formalities related to the incident are completed smoothly. The administration is also monitoring the condition of those injured and facilitating support wherever required.

Several senior leaders and officials were present during the meeting with the families. These included Minority Welfare Minister Mohd. Azharuddin, government advisors, elected representatives, and heads of minority welfare institutions.

The state government said further assistance will be extended if needed and that it will continue to coordinate with relevant agencies to address any pending issues related to the Medina bus tragedy.
