Two Women Journalists Arrested in Telangana for ‘Abusive’ Post Against CM Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad, March 12, 2025: Two female journalists from Telangana were arrested by Hyderabad Police’s Cyber Crime division on Wednesday morning for allegedly posting and sharing abusive content about Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

Case Filed After Congress Complaint
The arrested journalists have been identified as Pogadadanda Revathi, Managing Director of Pulse News, and Thanvi Yadav, a reporter for the same channel. The police arrested them from their homes and seized two laptops and a microphone.
The case was registered following a complaint from a Congress social media official. The complaint alleged that the journalists shared a video clip of a farmer expressing frustration with the government. In the video, the farmer criticized CM Reddy, claiming that farmers were not receiving state support.
Journalist Claims She Was Targeted
Before her arrest, Revathi posted a video saying that the police arrived at her house early in the morning and she feared detention. She claimed she was being targeted for questioning the government’s actions.
Political Reactions
Several politicians condemned the arrests. K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on social media, questioning the government’s commitment to freedom of speech.
A third person, who managed an X (formerly Twitter) account called NippuKodi, was also detained.
Judicial Custody
Both journalists have been sent to 14-day judicial custody. Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police has urged citizens to be careful when sharing content online.
