Rick Ross was attacked in Vancouver, B.C., on Sunday night (June 30) after his performance at the Ignite Music Festival. Videos show that he was punched, leading to a brawl. Kendrick Lamar’s song “Not Like Us” was playing as Ross finished his set.
Brawl Breaks Out After Rick Ross’s Performance
According to TMZ, Ross ended his performance around 10:30 p.m. local time and was leaving the stage when he was punched. The song playing in the background is a diss track aimed at Drake, who is from Toronto and currently has a feud with Ross.
The fight escalated quickly, and another video showed one of Ross’s friends knocked unconscious and being carried away. During the incident, someone yelled “White boy,” possibly referring to Ross’s nickname for Drake in his diss track “Champagne Moments.”
Ross told TMZ on Monday that no one was seriously injured, and he expressed his eagerness to return to Vancouver. He also posted a photo on Instagram, laughing in front of a private jet, and wrote, “Vancouver, it was fun. Until next time.”
50 Cent, who has a rivalry with Ross, made fun of the incident by posting a video on Instagram, calling it “THE GREAT ESCAPE.”
Drake, who was not involved in the fight, liked an Instagram post about the altercation involving Rick Ross.
The reason for the current feud between Drake and Ross is unclear, but it started earlier this year. Drake dissed Ross in his song “Push Ups” in April, and Ross responded with his track “Champagne Moments,” accusing Drake of having cosmetic surgery.
