Most areas across North Texas woke up to thunder, lightning, heavy rain, and gusty winds early Saturday morning. The storms were caused by a cold front that passed through the region overnight. A First Alert Weather Day had been issued from Friday afternoon through Saturday.

The strongest storms were expected to move into East Texas by late morning. By the afternoon, the rain was forecast to taper off, leaving most areas dry, breezy, and cooler for the rest of the day.

Temperatures were expected to reach around 74 degrees in the morning before dropping into the 50s later in the day. By the afternoon, temperatures were expected to rebound into the 60s across the region.

Weather conditions are expected to improve on Sunday for Easter. The day will start cool, with early morning temperatures in the upper 40s to 50 degrees. Partly cloudy skies, breezy northeasterly winds, and afternoon highs in the low 70s are expected.

Looking ahead to next week, the forecast shows dry, sunny, and seasonal weather conditions across North Texas. The next weather system is expected toward the end of the week.

The storms affected several North Texas areas, including Dallas, Fort Worth, Tarrant County, and Dallas County.

Officials advised residents to stay updated on weather forecasts as conditions changed throughout the day.
