Hyderabad, March,16,2026: The Telangana women’s team won the silver medal at the Federation Cup Throwball Championship held in Tirupati. The team, led by B Harika, finished runners up after losing to Andhra Pradesh in the final.
The achievement came during the 34th Federation Cup Throwball Championship where Telangana delivered several strong performances in the league stage and the semifinal.
In the league phase, Telangana began the tournament with a convincing victory over Delhi. The team won the match in straight sets with scores of 15-04 and 15-13.
Telangana continued their strong run with another win against Kerala. The side secured the match comfortably with set scores of 15-10 and 15-4.
The team then faced Tamil Nadu and recorded another straight sets victory. Telangana won the match 15-11 and 15-12 to maintain momentum in the competition.
However, the team suffered a setback against West Bengal in a closely contested encounter. Telangana won the first set 15-11 but lost the next two sets 14-16 and 13-15.
Despite the defeat, Telangana progressed to the semifinal stage of the Federation Cup Throwball Championship.
In the semifinal, Telangana faced Karnataka and produced a strong performance. The team secured a straight sets win with scores of 15-13 and 15-12 to reach the final.
In the title match, Telangana met Andhra Pradesh. The final proved challenging for the team as Andhra Pradesh won the match in straight sets with scores of 15-9 and 15-13, leaving Telangana with the silver medal.
Harika, Deepti and Vaishnavi were among the leading performers for the Telangana team throughout the tournament.
The team was coached by Siddeshwar Reddy, Pradeep Reddy and Shiva Kumar Yadav during the championship.
The Federation Cup Throwball Championship is one of the key national level competitions in the sport, bringing together teams from different states across the country.
Telangana’s consistent performances during the league matches and semifinal helped the team reach the final and secure the silver medal in the tournament.
