Los Angeles: April 15, 2026: GoPro’s Mission 1 has been officially announced as the company’s first cinema-focused action camera series. The lineup was revealed on April 15, 2026, featuring three models with advanced video capabilities and new hardware.

GoPro's Mission 1

GoPro’s Mission 1 series includes the Mission 1, Mission 1 Pro, and Mission 1 Pro ILS, marking the brand’s entry into premium action cinema cameras.

New Processor and Sensor

The cameras are powered by a new GP3 processor built on a 5nm architecture with an integrated AI neural processing unit. The lineup also features a 50-megapixel 1-inch sensor with support for up to 14 stops of dynamic range.

This combination allows the cameras to deliver performance closer to mirrorless systems rather than traditional action cameras.

Video Capabilities Across Models

The Mission 1 Pro supports 8K video recording at 60 frames per second and 4K at 240 frames per second. It also includes a burst mode of 1080p at 960 frames per second for slow-motion capture.

The base Mission 1 model offers 8K at 30 frames per second and 4K at 120 frames per second.

Interchangeable Lens System

The Mission 1 Pro ILS is the first GoPro camera to feature an interchangeable lens system. It uses a Micro Four Thirds mount, allowing compatibility with a wide range of lenses.

The system supports multiple lens types, including fisheye and telephoto options, expanding shooting flexibility.

Battery and Build

The cameras use the Enduro 2 battery with a capacity of 2150mAh. It provides over five hours of recording at 1080p and more than three hours at 4K 30fps.

Both Mission 1 and Mission 1 Pro models are waterproof up to 66 feet, with support for deeper use using a dive case.

Availability

Pre orders for the Mission 1 and Mission 1 Pro will begin on May 21, 2026. The cameras will be available starting May 28, 2026.

Background

GoPro has traditionally focused on action cameras with fixed lenses. The new Mission 1 lineup introduces interchangeable lens capability for the first time in the company’s history.

The company is also expanding its accessory ecosystem alongside the new cameras.

What Next

Pricing details have not yet been announced. The company is expected to reveal final pricing closer to the pre order date.
