Hyderabad,April 22,2026: The Telangana RTC strike has disrupted public transport services across parts of the State on April 22, 2026. Authorities have begun recruiting temporary drivers and conductors to manage operations during the ongoing strike.
Public transport services were severely affected in the combined Khammam and Karimnagar districts as employees of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation went on a State-wide strike under the RTC JAC banner.
In response, officials initiated contingency measures to reduce inconvenience to commuters. Temporary drivers and conductors are being recruited to operate hired buses on key routes, especially ahead of the upcoming marriage season on April 26 and 29.
TGSRTC authorities, in coordination with the Transport Department, have started the recruitment process for daily wage staff. The move is aimed at restoring partial services and easing passenger difficulties.
Khammam Bus Depot Manager M. Shivaprasad said that individuals interested in working as temporary conductors must submit their SSC original certificates at the depot. Those applying for driver roles are required to present valid heavy vehicle driving licences.
He stated that temporary conductors will receive an honorarium of 800 rupees per day, while drivers will be paid 1000 rupees per day.
The strike has affected a large number of daily commuters, prompting officials to explore additional alternatives. Efforts are underway to maintain essential services during the disruption.
The employees demands include the merger of TGSRTC with the State government and the implementation of two Pay Revision Commissions. These issues have remained unresolved for some time.
Authorities are continuing discussions and operational adjustments to manage transport needs until normal services resume.
