Telangana DGP CV Anand has launched the TG-VEER grievance portal to provide a single platform for families of police martyrs to raise concerns related to welfare and assistance. The portal was launched during his three-day visit to the erstwhile Warangal district, where he also reviewed policing and met families of 28 police martyrs.
The TG-VEER portal is designed to help families register grievances concerning financial assistance, ex-gratia payments, compassionate appointments, housing plot allocations, land registration and title issues, pensions and other welfare schemes.
During his visit, Anand reviewed the functioning of the Warangal Police Commissionerate with senior officials and later addressed the media. He stressed that while technology can improve policing and public services, it cannot replace fundamental policing principles.
Recalling his early IPS career in Warangal, Anand said his training began in the region and described his tenure as Warangal rural SP as an unforgettable period. He noted that police personnel had faced significant risks, including landmine blasts and attacks, while combating Naxalism.
The DGP said the improved law-and-order situation in Telangana was achieved through the sacrifices of police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty. He also met family members of the 28 police martyrs who died while combating Naxalism.
Cybercrime was another major issue discussed during the review. Anand said people in Telangana lost around Rs 1,700 crore to cybercrimes last year and highlighted the need for continued efforts to tackle cyber fraud and other financial offences.
He also expressed concern about attempts to attract children towards narcotics by disguising drugs as chocolates. The DGP called for educational institutions to play an important role in preventing drug abuse and warned that strict action would be taken against those involved in such activities.
The review also covered police staffing and crime prevention. Anand said that of 3,758 sanctioned posts across 50 police stations under the commissionerate, 2,976 personnel were currently on duty, leaving 782 vacancies.
The launch of TG-VEER is intended to make it easier for families of police martyrs to submit and follow up on welfare-related grievances through a dedicated platform.
