Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy extended greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of the Bonalu festival and World Tribal Day. He highlighted the importance of Telangana’s cultural traditions and the contribution of tribal communities to nature conservation and society.

Revanth Reddy Bonalu greetings

In his Bonalu message, the Chief Minister said the festival represents Telangana’s culture and traditions. He prayed for the blessings of Lal Darwaza Sri Simhavahini Mahankali Ammavaru to remain with every family and wished for health, happiness, prosperity and peace in every household.

Revanth Reddy also appealed to people to celebrate Bonalu with devotion while showcasing the richness of Telangana’s cultural heritage. Bonalu is a major traditional festival of Telangana dedicated to Goddess Mahakali and is celebrated across Hyderabad, Secunderabad and other parts of the state during the Ashada season. The Telangana government describes Bonalu as a native festival in which devotees offer Bonam to the Mother Goddess.

On the occasion of World Tribal Day, the Chief Minister conveyed his greetings to tribal communities and acknowledged their longstanding relationship with nature and forests. He described tribal culture as a way of life closely connected with nature and said their knowledge, traditions and collective way of living offer lessons for wider society.

Revanth Reddy said the rights, identity and culture of tribal communities should be respected. He called for collective efforts towards their welfare, development and self-respect while protecting their cultural heritage.

The Chief Minister’s messages brought together two important themes associated with Telangana’s social and cultural identity: the preservation of traditional festivals and recognition of indigenous communities and their heritage.

World Tribal Day is observed annually on August 9, while Bonalu remains one of Telangana’s prominent traditional festivals. The state government has previously highlighted Bonalu as an important part of Telangana’s cultural heritage.
