The Telangana government has extended the deadline for applications for new Cheyutha social security pensions to September 15, 2026. The extension gives eligible beneficiaries additional time to submit their applications after the earlier deadline of August 31.
The Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) issued a circular on August 31 announcing the revised deadline. The decision was taken following requests from eligible beneficiaries and directions from Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka.
Officials said the extension is intended to ensure that eligible people who could not complete the application process within the original deadline get another opportunity. Persons with disabilities and other eligible beneficiaries had sought additional time because of difficulties in completing the application process.
The government has asked eligible beneficiaries who have not yet applied to make use of the extended deadline. Officials have also been instructed to provide assistance to applicants, particularly elderly persons and persons with disabilities, during the application process.
According to reports, applications are being received from several categories of beneficiaries, including widows, single women and persons with disabilities, subject to the prescribed eligibility conditions. Applications will be subjected to verification before the final beneficiary list is prepared.
The extension comes as the government works to process applications for new social security pensions under the Cheyutha scheme. The original application window was scheduled to close on August 31, but the government decided to provide an additional 15 days.
Eligible applicants who have not submitted their applications are advised to complete the process by September 15. The revised deadline is intended to give those who faced documentation, technical or other difficulties a final additional opportunity to apply.
