Hyderabad: A Telangana government employee from Adilabad has approached the Telangana High Court seeking directions for the sanction and release of five pending installments of Dearness Allowance (DA) due to state government employees and pensioners.
Mohammed Nizamuddin, a government employee, filed W.P. No. 28506 of 2026 through his advocate Rajkumar Gummi, seeking the release of DA installments that became due from January 1, 2024, July 1, 2024, January 1, 2025, July 1, 2025 and January 1, 2026.
Petition refers to 2021 DA order
The petition refers to G.O.Ms.No.52 issued by the Finance (HRM.IV) Department on June 11, 2021. Under the order, the Dearness Allowance for Telangana state government employees and pensioners is to be regulated at 0.910 percent for every one percent of DA sanctioned by the Government of India. The government order confirms that this formula was accepted based on the recommendations of the First Pay Revision Commission.
According to the petition, the Centre revised DA on five occasions during the relevant period, but the corresponding increases for Telangana government employees and pensioners have remained pending. The petitioner has stated that the cumulative DA payable to state government employees is 46.41 percent, while the last sanctioned DA is 33.67 percent.
High Court hearing on September 1
The writ petition came up for hearing before the Telangana High Court on September 1, 2026. Government counsel appearing for the state received notices and sought time to file counter affidavits in the matter.
The court subsequently adjourned the matter to September 29, 2026, for the next hearing.
What the petition seeks
The petitioner has sought appropriate directions for sanctioning and releasing the five pending DA installments to eligible Telangana government employees and pensioners. The case will now proceed after the government files its response before the High Court.
The outcome of the proceedings could determine the next course of action on the DA issue raised in the petition. However, the High Court has not, at this stage, issued a final direction ordering payment of the claimed installments.
