Minister Prabhakar held a meeting with MLAs from regions that have a large number of Gulf workers. They discussed five major issues that these workers face.

He suggested that the government form a committee to look after the welfare of Gulf workers. This committee would include MLAs, MLCs, and local leaders from the affected areas. He also called for an official Government Order (GO) to make this plan a reality.

Additionally, Prabhakar announced that a special help desk for Gulf workers would start functioning from September 20 as part of the existing Praja Vani program. He also promised that the government will ensure 100% admission for the children of Gulf workers in gurukula schools and colleges.

For families of workers who have died in Gulf countries, Prabhakar assured that they will receive financial assistance of Rs. 5 lakhs from the Congress government, and he will push for this matter in government meetings.

The NRI Cell has proposed giving an ex-gratia payment of Rs. 1 lakh to the families of workers who died in the Gulf, considering it as a humanitarian effort.
