New Delhi.17.09.2024: In a major development in Delhi politics, Arvind Kejriwal, the National Convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has resigned from his position as Chief Minister. Kejriwal submitted his resignation to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, LG Saxena, earlier today. He also announced that Atishi Marlena has been chosen as the new leader of AAP’s legislative party.
Kejriwal, along with other AAP leaders and ministers, visited the Lt. Governor’s residence to submit his resignation. This comes after his recent release on bail in the Delhi liquor scam case. Kejriwal’s decision to step down as Delhi CM is tied to the allegations of corruption in the scam and certain conditions set by the Supreme Court.
On September 17, Kejriwal officially stepped down, stating that he plans to return to public service and seek the people’s mandate to resume his role as Delhi CM. Following his resignation, Atishi Marlena, a key leader in AAP and a current minister, was elected as the new Chief Minister of Delhi. She is expected to take over her new role today.
This marks a significant change in Delhi’s political landscape, with Atishi becoming the next Delhi CM.
