Hyderabad.17.10.2024: The Telangana High Court rejected pleas from several IAS officers seeking to stay in their current positions instead of reporting to their newly allotted states. The court, led by Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili, denied the requests of four IAS officers from Telangana and three from Andhra Pradesh to block the Centre’s order. The officers had been directed by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) to report to their new states by Wednesday evening.

The officers, including Vani Prasad, Vakati Karuna, Ronald Rose, and Amrapali Kata from Telangana, and Ch Hari Kiran, Srijana Gummala, and Siva Sankar Lotheti from Andhra Pradesh, had previously appealed to the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) but were not granted a stay. They then turned to the Telangana High Court, but their requests were also dismissed.

The court emphasized that further delays would not resolve the issue and directed the officers to report to their allotted states. The central government will decide on their postings, and further hearings will continue at a later date.

These officers have been in a legal battle with the DoPT since the 2014 bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, disputing the cadre allocations determined by a high-level committee.
